Public should not be alarmed by a large police presence at Onslow Memorial Hospital on August 9^th, 2023.

JACKSONVILLE, NC- Onslow Memorial Hospital and Jacksonville Department of Public Safety will be conducting an active shooter drill on the morning of Wednesday, August 9^th, 2023. The drill, which will take place at Onslow Memorial Hospital, will simulate a mass casualty event and is designed to ensure our staff and first responders have a coordinated and effective response. The purpose of this event is to promote hospital and community safety and enhance preparedness and response measures for potential active shooter incidents.

Members of the public are asked to keep in mind that a drill is taking place that day and not become alarmed if you see a large number of police and fire vehicles, as well as ambulances and other emergency response vehicles, grouped together in larger numbers that morning.

The drill is being conducted at Onslow Memorial Hospital. It is not open to the public.

Members of the media who wish to cover the event should be prepared to show credentials and will be asked to wait to provide coverage until the event is completed.

Again, the community should be prepared for a large emergency response at Onslow Memorial Hospital on the morning of Wednesday, August 9^th. Signs will be posted at and near the site to serve as a reminder.
