Evidence of Teamwork

May 01, 2021

Our commitment to the goal of high quality, safe patient care while providing an excellent experience is one we strive for every day. As most of you know, TJC presented to OMH on April 13, 2021 for our unannounced, triennial survey which lasted 4 days. Three surveyors interacted with our staff, reviewed policies, reviewed patient safety efforts and toured our buildings. This translated to 9 surveyor days! And, despite coming off one of the most, if not the most challenging year we have ever faced, our hospital did an amazing job! It was a very thorough survey and while we do have opportunities for improvement, I am immensely proud of all of you. Many of you directly contributed to the success of the survey and while we had findings, it is because of your dedication and commitment that we impressed the surveyors throughout their visit with us. We received many comments on our organizational strengths to include: our engaged staff, an attitude of continuous improvement, the fact that we are community minded and the diligence of leadership in ensuring a culture of safety. Noteworthy is that there are two compliments that we always hope to hear from our surveyors (who travel across the country visiting hundreds of hospitals a year); and, we are happy to share that we received those two compliments again this year! 1. The surveyors would be proud to work here; and, 2. They would be confident receiving care here. That impression left with the surveyors should not be taken lightly and can be directly attributed to each and every one of you.

I want to thank everyone who participated directly and indirectly in the survey. We have already started work on our action plan related to the findings during the visit. Your managers have details about those findings and will be sharing those with you. While we have some work to do, we have accomplished and can accomplish so much more as a team.

Much appreciated!
