Telehealth
Virtual appointments, real care.
Our telehealth system allows you to “visit” the physicians you know and trust, quickly and conveniently, all while experiencing the same high-quality care and personal attention.
Onslow Ambulatory Services understands you may be anxious to visit your provider in person. However, you should never neglect health concerns or yearly wellness screenings because of fear of exposure to COVID-19. While we’ve added robust cleaning measures, additional patient and provider screenings, and modified our scheduling structure to reduce patient interaction, we’ve taken our precautions one step further.
Onslow Ambulatory Services is proud to offer telehealth to new and existing patients. Telehealth is defined as the use of technology to provide long-distance clinical health care to patients. Now, you can connect with your provider and conduct your entire appointment via phone or video chat to address your health care needs and concerns.
Through our telehealth portals, Follow My Health and Healow, you can schedule virtual appointments, view your medical records, message your provider, and upload vitals. When it comes time to conduct your appointment, the doctor you know and trust will be on the other end of the line, ready to connect with you. From colds to medication adjustments, to COVID-19 symptom concerns or a sprained ankle, to COPD complications and surgical follow-ups, Onslow Ambulatory Services is here for you with the quality care you expect in the clinic, from the comfort and safety of your home.

Can I use telehealth for all of my healthcare needs?
While telehealth is a great tool for addressing most health concerns, there are some instances where you may be asked to come to the clinic. This can include biopsies, imaging, and advanced diagnostics. If you are having a health care emergency, please call 911 or visit the Onslow Memorial Hospital emergency room.
Does my insurance cover telehealth?
Telehealth is still a new technology, and while most insurance plans cover telehealth visits, some do not. Be sure to call your insurance company before scheduling a telehealth visit. You may also be charged a co-pay, much like a traditional visit. Your clinic will review these charges before your appointment. If your insurance does not cover telehealth services, call your clinic to receive an estimate for the cost.
What kind of technology do I need for a telehealth appointment?
Our providers encourage the use of video chat for telehealth appointments. For this, you will need access to a device that has a microphone and a camera (tablet, iPad, smartphone, laptop, desktop computer with webcam). You will also need internet or data service that is stable and at least 10 Mbps. If you do not have access to these items, a phone call may be used to substitute. Visit the technology tab for more information.
How do I get help if I’m having technical difficulties?

Can I schedule a telehealth appointment for my child?
Absolutely! As a parent or guardian, your role in a telehealth visit remains the same as an in-person visit.
