Onslow County, NC – On Monday, April 28, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. Onslow Memorial Hospital (OMH) will host a press conference in the Onslow Memorial Hospital Education Boardroom to announce an exciting new partnership with Coastal Carolina Community College (Coastal). Starting with the 2025-2026 academic year, all students accepted into Coastal’s Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) program will qualify for the Onslow Memorial Hospital Nursing Scholarship Program.

This groundbreaking program offers full financial support to nursing students pursuing their Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) at Coastal. OMH will cover 100% of tuition, including books and mandatory fees, valued at over $20,000 over the two-year program. In addition, each scholarship recipient will receive a $500 monthly stipend to cover living expenses. The program also ensures employment with OMH upon graduation and successfully passing the NCLEX exam.

“We are thrilled to offer this scholarship opportunity in partnership with Coastal Carolina Community College,” said Taylor Flowers, Senior Vice President Human Resources. "The demand for qualified nurses is higher than ever. By offering this support, we are investing in the education of future nurses, ensuring that individuals can live and work within their own communities. This investment will help strengthen the local healthcare workforce and address the ongoing shortage of healthcare professionals at both the state and national levels."

Coastal Carolina Community College’s Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) program is designed to prepare students for the challenges and rewards of a career in nursing. With a strong focus on intensive learning, mutual respect, and building clinical expertise, the program provides a solid foundation for students to succeed in the healthcare profession.

“We are incredibly proud of our partnership with Onslow Memorial Hospital,” said Dr. Matthew Herrmann, Vice President for Instruction and Student Services. “This collaboration with our community partner not only provides invaluable opportunities for our students, but also establishes a clear pipeline to employment for students that benefits the community. The financial support throughout the program allows our students to remain focused on their education, ultimately preparing them for successful careers in healthcare and this initiative is a testament to the strength of our partnership with Onslow Memorial Hospital.”
