Taking A Special Visit

Welcome to A Dose of Paw-sitivity with Elsa. Elsa and her handler, Gail, spend her days visiting patients, teammates, and clinics throughout Onslow Memorial Hospital, sharing comfort, smiles, and plenty of tail wags. Through her visits across the hospital and outpatient clinics, Elsa’s mission is simple, bring a little extra joy and encouragement to everyone she meets while spreading paw-sitivity through Onslow Memorial Hospital.

Hello, my friends!

Earlier this month, I made a trip to one of my favorite places, Onslow Radiation Oncology.

The day we went was especially rainy, so Mom made me wear my pink rain coat so I wouldn’t get wet! When I made it to ORO, everyone absolutely loved seeing me in my raincoat. There was even a special place where they allowed me to hang my raincoat.

I got to see so many patients that day – they were all very kind and gave me many pets. I even sat outside of the radiation room to wait for a patient, because I always like to make sure I see everyone – even if it is more than once! I just like to make sure that people will walk out of the hospital feeling a little better than when they came in – spreading paw-sitivity is the best part of my job.

The team was lovely and welcoming, as they always are and I even got to see Dr. Ross! He was working hard treating all of the patients, so it was nice getting to see him.

When I went into the Radiation Therapist room, I got all the yummy snacks. Even though I’m not allowed to eat them. (Shhhh… do not tell my mom).

When it was time to leave, I did not want to go. I shifted my weight to my left leg and put my right paw directly onto the leash. I don’t think Mom understood me right away because we made it to the lobby, and I immediately found a very comfortable spot on the floor and laid down. It is just so calming in the lobby with all of the pretty decorations, plus patients sit in there so I also get more pets and who doesn’t love pets?!

It is safe to say, I had an absolutely amazing time seeing everyone! I already cannot wait to share my next adventure with you all. It is a real treat being able to share glimpses into what I do at the hospital!

Until next time,
Queen Elsa
