Spreading Paw-sitivity Throughout Onslow Memorial Hospital.

Welcome to A Dose of Paw-sitivity with Elsa. Elsa and her handler, Gail, spend their days visiting patients, teammates, and clinics throughout Onslow Memorial Hospital, sharing comfort, smiles, and plenty of tail wags. Through her visits across the hospital and outpatient clinics, Elsa’s mission is simple, bring a little extra joy and encouragement to everyone she meets while spreading paw-sitivity throughout Onslow Memorial Hospital.

Hello friends,

I hope everyone had a beautiful Mother’s Day! 💐

To celebrate, I gave my mom, Gail, lots of smooches and requested plenty of belly rubs… I think it was the perfect gift, and Mom seemed to agree.

Mom also reminded me that May is Women’s Health Month, which is an important time to focus on taking care of ourselves so we can stay healthy and strong.

As many of you know, my food has changed lately because of my EPI diagnosis. What you may not know is that I now have to eat low-fat foods and treats. Honestly… it’s a little boring, but Mom says it’s important for keeping me healthy and feeling my best.

Lately, Mom has been talking about us going on more hikes together, which is one of my favorite things to do — right behind visiting all my friends at Onslow Memorial Hospital, of course! The only problem is the car ride. I’m not exactly a fan of getting in the car, and Mom usually has to help lift my bottom into the back seat. I pretend not to notice.

But Mom says movement, fresh air, and exercise are important for both our bodies and our minds, and I think she’s right.

You all are lucky because you have the beautiful walking path around the hospital. No car ride required! You can even grab a healthy lunch from our wonderful Food & Nutrition team and enjoy a quick stroll during your break.

Just be careful of the goose poop… it really stresses my mom out for some reason. 😂

This month, remember to take care of yourselves so we ladies can continue taking care of each other.

Thank you for always making me feel so loved during my visits. Seeing all of you continues to be one of the best parts of my week.

With love,

Queen Elsa 🐾

P.S. One last healthy reminder… if you see me walking around the hospital, please stop for a head scratch. Those are very good for my emotional wellness.

Also, I met a real-life star! Ms. Angel, a patient at Onslow Rehabilitation Center who is recovering from a stroke, recently filmed a commercial for the hospital. I have never felt so star-struck in my life!
