Our staff as a strategic resource

Our staff as a strategic resource

On November 1, 2, and 3, the Senior Leadership and Communications teams had the pleasure of conducting our Employee Forums after a bit of a hiatus. We chose not to make them mandatory and yet, we still had attendance numbering at approximately 400. That's a win! The subject matter of the Forums included a brief update on our financial picture for the last fiscal year, a benefits update with a presentation on a new benefit being offered to our staff - RelyMD, and the status of our strategic plan and potential partnership with CarolinaEast Health System.

Recommended priorities for the strategic plan include the broad categories of governance, growth (market share and servicelines such as cardiology, etc.), clinical integration, focus on quality and safety, population health management, and re-investing in our employees. The last element is incredibly compelling as our staff are our most valuable resource and one we wish to retain. Simply put: a happy employee is a retained employee. In addition, staff who come to work with a happy heart, are wonderful ambassadors for the organization. The feedback forms were filled with great suggestions and positive remarks.

If you have additional suggestions that you thought about later, please bring them to your manager, director, vice president or the Communications team as a follow up to the Forums. I am honored and privileged to be working with all of you.

Penney Burlingame Deal, DHA
