Diversity in the healthcare setting

Diversity in the healthcare setting

The shifting demographics of the United States population trigger a need for hospitals to address diversity. The challenge and opportunity before us is to ensure that our hospital reflects the community it serves.

We must support diversity in our staff and in the care we provide to our community. Our goal must be in alignment in creating a diverse organization in staffing and in the healthcare we provide.

In our pursuit of diversity, we have pledged to collaborate with the American Hospital Association (AHA) in our journey to both mirror the community we serve and to provide culturally proficient and sensitive healthcare to all patients.

To support our initiative, we have developed a Diversity Task Force made up of key members within our organization. Taylor Flowers, Senior Vice President, Director of Human Resources, has been selected as our diversity officer.

I ask for everyone’s support as we continue our passion in ‘sensing other’s needs,’ and as we embrace cultural diversity in a place ‘where people care.’

Sincerely,

Ed Piper, Ph.D.

President & Chief Executive Officer
