A Call for Clinical Integration

A Call for Clinical Integration

As we embrace the dawn of a New Year and gaze among the constellation of stars that form the phantasmal galaxy we call healthcare in America, the fundamental question and strategy is – how do we navigate through this awesome galaxy in our pursuit of our mission to best serve our community?

I believe that the answer is clinical integration.  Facing the wide abyss with illimitable directions to go, clinical integration is now a calling for us all to unite and partner with each other to include our medical community, health service agencies, and other hospitals.  I feel we need to achieve integration as a means to spur innovative affiliations and establish partnerships.

Through clinical integration we can best coordinate a continuum and establish protocols of all the activities that benefit our community and our patients.  By partnering with others to create clinical integration we have the opportunity to improve quality, safety, patient satisfaction, image, market share, and revenue while reducing cost, inefficiency, communication failures, and anxiety of our patients and providers.

Key in navigating through our galaxy of healthcare is provider engagement and guidance through the wide abyss.

Sincerely,

Ed Piper, Ph.D.

Former President & Chief Executive Officer, 2000-2016
