The CARE in Healthcare

February 01, 2020

Hospitals, by their very nature, cover both ends of the caring spectrum. They are filled with people who need to be cared for and with those who care for others. Even if your role doesn’t include working at the bedside, your role likely involves providing a service to those who do. Our sole purpose is to care, and as caregivers, we often neglect ourselves in the process. I encourage you to find your joy and always make room for it in your busy schedules and your life. Make room for the people you admire, inspire and enjoy. Contribute to your own bliss by consciously recognizing moments of healing, forgiveness, compassion, and kindness. Amply exercise self-compassion, recognizing our own humanness often contributes to mistakes but creates opportunities. Finally, freely express gratitude – gratitude recognition is the platform from which happiness builds. I am grateful for all you do for our patients and each other. Please be sure to take care of yourselves and Happy Valentine’s Day!
