Set­ting a Course for Suc­cess in 2019

As we embark on a new year, I’m pleased to share that there are many exciting initiatives underway to renew the vitality of Onslow Memorial Hospital.

We have launched a new strategic business plan with the aim of generating millions of dollars in cost savings and revenue enhancements over the next few years. This turnaround initiative, The Impact Project, will help bring financial stability to the organization and help us continue to thrive as a community hospital.

In addition, we now have a management services agreement with UNC Health Care. This arrangement will also bring additional resources and expertise to help us achieve cost-savings and enhance clinical services.

The new business plan and UNC partnership are a culmination of months of due diligence by the members of the Onslow County Hospital Authority board, and I applaud their courage and dedication to embrace these changes to ensure the sustainability of our hospital.

Shrinking reimbursements, increasing costs, nursing shortages, mental health disparities and unfunded mandates have created the perfect storm. These new initiatives will be our new sails and help us navigate to calmer waters.
