I often think about our most valuable asset—all of you—and revel in the knowledge that our people, and therefore our culture, shine like a bright star. National Hospital Week is our dedicated opportunity to thank you and recognize the incredible work you do every day for our patients, our community, and our organization.

Our gratitude extends to every member of the OMH team—clinical and non-clinical alike. Whether you work directly with patients or in a support role, you are essential in creating the "right place" for healing. Creating an environment of appreciation and respect is deeply rooted in gratitude and recognizing the goodness in others. A culture of honor is built when we intentionally speak words of life and acknowledge the efforts of those around us, transforming how we see our circumstances and the people in them. Appreciation is a habit that transforms how we see our circumstances and the people in them, encouraging a positive focus on excellence, peace, and thankfulness.

I am truly grateful for the people you are, both with each other and with our patients. I recently received a letter from a patient that I want to share, as it highlights the profound impact of the OMH team:

“Looking back, I firmly believe… I was in the right place at the right time, surrounded by the right people, to save my life. I appreciate each and every one of you for your dedication, service, and the heart that you all bring to your work.”

That "right people" statement is all of you. It is a testament to the fact that you do not just provide medical care; you provide for the human needs of our patients.

To celebrate your dedication, we have planned a week’s worth of festivities, including a box lunch, sweet treat day, hospital breakfast, popcorn day, Chik-fil-a meal, and an OMH gift. While these gestures couldn’t possibly do justice to the level of appreciation we feel, they are a token of our heartfelt thanks.

Please take time this week to recognize the wonderful things we accomplish as a team, and know that your influence as ambassadors for OMH spreads far and wide. You make a difference, and we are grateful to have you. Thank you for being the heart of OMH.
