Surgical Services at Onslow Memorial Hospital
When you have surgery at Onslow Memorial Hospital, you can feel confident knowing you’re in the care of one of the region’s most comprehensive medical facilities, with trusted board-certified surgeons, experienced nurses and state-of-the-art surgical technology.
With anesthesia services provided by board-certified anesthesiologists and certified registered nurse anesthesiologists, we perform inpatient and outpatient procedures (for same-day outpatient surgery, see SurgiCare below), including general, orthopedic, podiatry, pediatric and adult ear, nose and throat, urologic, gynecologic, spinal, cataract and many other surgeries.
Prospective surgery patients can also take comfort knowing Onslow Memorial Hospital is an active and very successful member of the Surgical Care Improvement Project (SCIP), a national partnership of organizations working to prevent complications following surgery.
Depending on the type of surgery you need, you will be scheduled either at Onslow Memorial Hospital’s new ER and Surgical Pavilion, or our free-standing SurgiCare of Jacksonville.
da Vinci® Precision Robotic Surgery
The latest example of our commitment to surgical excellence is the addition of the da Vinci Surgical System. More than a piece of high tech equipment, da Vinci is actually revolutionizing surgery by expanding the application of minimally invasive surgical techniques to a broader range of medical needs. This means more patients will reap benefits such as less blood loss and pain, shorter hospital stay (sometimes none at all), faster recoveries, and much less scarring compared to open surgery. Our Emergency Department (ER) is open 24-hours a day, 7 days a week, every day of the year.
The ER at Onslow Memorial Hospital offers quick access to vital healthcare services with the area's most advanced CT and MRI imaging, as well enhanced triage and trauma care. The Surgical Pavilion accommodates both inpatient and outpatient surgeries. It features four large, modern operating suites and uses a high-definition, fully integrated video system for advanced video-assisted and minimally invasive procedures. This advanced technology boosts surgical accuracy and helps to reduce patient recovery times. Performing an average of 250-300 procedures per month, the physicians and nurses of the Surgical Pavilion are some of the most skilled, most dedicated in the region.
Described by guests and staff as “light and airy,” the Surgical Pavilion is designed to facilitate maximum communication between physicians, nurses, patients and their visitors. Using natural light and earth tone colors, the clean environment, open spaces, comfortable visitor lobby and well-appointed private rooms are both calming and reassuring.
SurgiCare of Jacksonville
SurgiCare of Jacksonville, a department of Onslow Memorial Hospital, is a free-standing building providing convenient same-day outpatient surgery and easy access to Onslow Diagnostics for lab services, EKG and chest X-rays. For a map locating the facility, please click here.
Some of the surgeries performed include general, pediatric and adult ear, nose and throat, cataract, podiatry, orthopedic, gynecologic, endoscopic, laparoscopic and colonoscopy.
SurgiCare takes pride in its warm, family environment, providing continuity of care and open communication between patients, physicians, nurses and family members. Nurses are always attentive to the special needs of pediatric patients, making sure they feel as safe and secure as our adult patients do.
SurgiCare hours are Monday - Friday, 6:45 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., closed on holidays.
