Sports Medicine specialists keep athletes in the game

Athletes know aches and pains come with the territory.
But sometimes the aches and pains are more serious and require a sports medicine specialist.
Onslow County has a high number of high schools, active duty military “industrial athletes” and also retired military who stay active and fit. It makes Jacksonville a prime spot for sports medicine doctors, orthopedic practices and physical therapy clinics, said Dr. Scott Playford, the sports med partner at Onslow Primary Care & Sports Medicine.
“There are a high number of sports related and musculoskeletal injuries (in Jacksonville),” he said. “We treat not just the classic athlete, but anybody active who is having muscle and joint problems.”
