Expert Tip of the Week: Stay on track even when eating out

Eating out at a restaurant doesn’t have to disrupt weight loss goals.

Dining out can be overwhelming for those trying to on the path to lose weight, but simple planning ahead of time can make a big difference.

According to Mary Ann Turlington, a registered dietitian at the Onslow County Health Department, Americans are consuming 570 calories extra a day. One reason she attributes is restaurants labeling meal sizes much larger than what is recommended for one person.

“Super sized portions are making us super sized people and with that super size people comes more diabetes and more obesity,” Turlington said.
