Expert Tip of the Week: Rid kitchen of temptations

Transitioning to a healthy lifestyle starts where you live, and most people live in their kitchens, Michael Brown says.
Many people who find themselves overweight will discover their kitchen is a real calorie and fat haven, so it is important to get in there and make an assessment and make time for a kitchen makeover, said Brown, a leader at Weight Watchers in Jacksonville. Start purging those tempting high calorie, high fat, sweet/salty foods and treats and begin replacing them with lower calorie, higher fiber, healthier selections.
“In taking an inventory think about what foods you eat today that made you gain weight,” he said. “We need to get rid of those or at least reduce those. You don’t have to get rid of everything, but you should segregate them and put them toward the back of the refrigerator and pantry.
