Cancer Care Closer to Home

Cancer patients will have the option to travel less and recuperate at home with their families during cancer treatments.
Radiation therapy will be available
locally at Onslow Memorial Hospital, in about a month at its new Radiation Oncology Center.
Supporters and community leaders who attended the dedication and open house Thursday at the center, which is attached to the old emergency room entrance, were also given a tour of center.
The center is slated to open to patients sometime in late September or early October, said Tim Strickland, vice-president, director of public relations-marketing for the hospital. “The difference this is going to make in the lives of local cancer patients is the most important aspect of this whole project,” he said.
